Only four months after leaving the sham PPPWU, a group of Teamsters at Universal Promotions has voted overwhelmingly to ratify a strong new contract.

The 25 promotional products workers joined Teamsters Local 710 in May in order to secure a strong voice on the job — one that was denied to them by the PPPWU.

“The PPPWU simply could not provide the representation on the job that we deserved. They only came around when they needed something from us, and they refused to negotiate strong contracts that reflected our priorities,” said Cecilia Sandoval, an e-store and inventory controller. “With our Teamsters contract and strong representation from Local 710, we can now ensure we are treated fairly for the long term. I encourage any other PPPWU member to reach out to a Teamsters organizer so they can do the same.”

Universal Promotions workers have secured the full array of Teamsters protections from grievance procedures to daily guarantees and everything in between. The new contract includes unprecedented wage increases, additional vacation time and holidays, expanded bereavement leave, personal days, and parental leave.
